A clever way to diagnose why you might be failing

As a CEO, these days it is absolutely impossible to be excellent at every aspect of your broad and diverse role.

It’s useful to have a clear and easy way to diagnose why you may be struggling with elements of your work.

Generally, there are one of four reasons things may be difficult:

  1. Lack of Competence (you lack a certain skill)
  2. Lack of Concentration (you aren’t giving it enough focus)
  3. Lack of Commitment (you aren’t bought in)
  4. Lack of Confidence (your mindset is off)

Fortunately, each one of these is fixable, particularly if you reach out for some support. They’re all ‘biggies’ and will require some clear intention and application.

Given the sway you hold, the payoff of addressing areas of struggle will be significant – both to you and your performance, as well as that of your organisation.
